A Family Visit to Roslin Chapel

Some of the Kirk Lane Activities team visited Roslin Chapel with resident Mrs Elsie Millar, her daughter Joyce, and son George.

They met with the Director, Ian Gardener, where Elsie and her family exchanged stories about her late husband Mr Millar who used to be a lay reader there in the 1970’s. There was a lot of reminiscing, and George recalled attempting to play the organ there as a youngster. The family remember too the coldness of the chapel as there was no under floor heating then!

Here, Elsie has a photograph of Mr Millar on her lap, where you can see the hand made surplice she made that he is wearing. The Director took a copy for their archives.

Afterwards, the family enjoyed refreshments of tea and home made scones in the café at the chapel.
