Testimonials

What Our Residents and Their Families Say

At Randolph Hill, we are always humbled when we receive some positive feedback from the friends and family of our residents.

It is great to hear that our staff are going above and beyond their roles and that the environment of our homes are friendly and welcoming. This encouraging feedback gives everyone the motivation to continue to deliver a high standard of care.

Below are some of our favourite testimonials from across the Randolph Hill Group.

My mum has settled extremely well at Randolph Hill. This is down to the wonderful care and professionalism shown towards residents by staff. As a visitor I feel the friendly atmosphere as I enter the home with the lovely welcome given by the reception staff. I have been kept well informed by nursing staff about Mum’s health and wellbeing. It shines through how well staff are really getting to know my mum. Surrounded by the company of other residents and staff plays a huge role on my mum’s happiness. She thrives spending her day in the lounge and also participating in her choice of the many activities provided by the excellent activities team. Having the home split into individual units with their own lounge and dining area for small group living has been the perfect structure to allow my mum to become familiar with the residents within her small unit. Thank you Randolph Hill. I can enjoy valuable time with my mum doing things together.

Elaine, Daughter of Resident, Randolph Hill

Mum was transferred to Randolph Hill, Dunblane, yesterday by ambulance. Her welcome was warm, professional and calm. My sister and I were included by staff in settling her in and made to feel welcome and at home. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone. We were so relieved and so glad to see Mum in an environment that is safe and caring but not clinical. She has already started to enjoy meals, been wheeled outside to see the garden, had a wash and blow dry by the visiting hairdresser etc. As a family, we are delighted that Mum has become a resident. We know she is safe and no longer needs to worry. We look forward to visiting her in her new home. Thank you one and all.

Alison, Daughter of Resident, Randolph Hill

I have been blown away with how everyone in Randolph Hill treat my mum. She is respected and cared for to a level that beats my expectations. I feel they treat her as family, understanding her needs and quirks, whilst still treating her with the utmost respect and dignity. I leave my mum after each visit in capable hands.

Janet, Daughter of Resident, Randolph Hill

The staff are friendly, capable and professional. In particular, I wish to make a special mention to one member of staff who is based on the third floor. He is a star who is kind, thoughtful to the individual patient’s needs and very helpful. He gives us great confidence that my father is being very well looked after and in a safe, comfortable and caring environment.

Graham, Son of Resident, Muirfield

My mother has now been at Muirfield for 1 and a half years. The permanent members of staff are always very cheerful and kind and seem to have built up a good relationship with her. They always give my mother a good welcome back when she has been away staying with us at home for a few days. The food is good and there is a great hairdresser. The gardens are very well tended and my mother spends as much time as possible outside. The gardener even keeps jobs back for her to do.

Caroline, Daughter of Resident, Muirfield

I have waited nearly 4 months to submit my review so that I can give an honest review of my experience. I spent a lot of time researching and visiting numerous homes as I wanted to find the right place for my mum who has advanced dementia. Initially, I was a little apprehensive as the home was relatively new so there was little feedback/reviews to read so I visited twice to view the facilities and on both occasions was made to feel very welcome. 4 months on and I am absolutely convinced Kirk Lane was the right decision for Mum, myself and our family. The staff are extremely caring and so friendly and I know Mum is in very safe hands and is very well looked after. Little touches make all the difference – Mum’s first great-grandchild was born at Xmas and unbeknown to us until we visited, a staff member had a photo of the baby printed out and framed and placed by Mum’s bed so she could see him – we were so touched by that. Mum is properly cared for in a wonderful caring environment.

Gill, Daughter of Resident, Kirk Lane

I now have both my parents in this wonderful home. The staff are amazing. The manager is wonderful. I have never met someone so suited to their job. He always takes time with the residents, stops and chats to them every time he passes and goes all out to do what he can for them. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. Wonderful nursing home.

Sharon, Daughter of Resident, Kirk Lane

My aunt moved into Kirk Lane in December 2021. The whole family were delighted with the quality of facilities and impressed by the decor and amenities of this new build facility. My aunt was delighted to have an en-suite shower room, which allows her some independence with bathing and the quality of fixtures and fittings is second to none. Underfloor heating and fluffy towels are a lovely touch. The staff are all delightful and very upbeat and positive people who clearly enjoy working at Kirk Lane. My aunt was assured from the outset that Kirk Lane was to be her home and everyone has made sure she feels absolutely at home there. There are so many positives to mention – movie nights, delicious home baking, barbecues, daily exercise classes and regular bus outings are a few of the noteworthy extra touches that make Kirk Lane really feel like a home. The management are superb and offer families regular opportunities to engage with Randolph Hill and welcome feedback. We are delighted!

Lee, Niece of Resident, Kirk Lane

Choosing a nursing home for my father was a bit of a daunting experience, as we hadn’t had to do anything like this before, however, as soon as I visited Kirk Lane Nursing Home, it just felt right. The building is new and both the interior and exterior are immaculate. The rooms are spacious and well equipped, with lovely en-suite facilities in every room. The secure enclosed gardens offer facilities to enjoy a BBQ or just to sit enjoying the surroundings and fresh air. Great facilities are good and well, however, the calibre of staff is the main thing which makes this home outstanding. All the staff are so friendly and engaging, both with residents and visitors. Having the ability to visit at any time means that it wouldn’t be possible to project a front just at visiting time. I would have no hesitation in recommending this home to anyone looking for a home from home for their loved ones.

Sam, Son of Resident, Kirk Lane

I have found Kirk Lane Nursing Home to be the best in the area. I was looking for a home for my mum last year and was so glad to find this home. The management and staff have been so good with Mum and she has settled well. Couldn’t be happier with the care.

Sandra, Daughter of Resident, Kirk Lane

My husband has just enjoyed a week in Kirk Lane Nursing Home, so that I could have a respite week. The care home itself, is absolutely beautiful and I would describe the staff members in the same way. Very beautiful carers, dedicated to looking after the residents to make them feel comfortable and safe. I would highly recommend Kirk Lane to anyone looking for a break from their caring role and I would feel reassured of excellent care, if my husband could be there full-time.

Carol, Wife of Resident, Kirk Lane

Gives me such pleasure walking into mums room in Kirk Lane Home and seeing the care that has been taken to keep it nice. Gives me a great feeling knowing she is in the right place, chosen by my brother and myself. Credit to the manager and staff at Kirk Lane Home, who always go above and beyond. Thank you for being there for Mum and our family.

Elaine, Daughter of Resident, Kirk Lane

I was in respite recently and found everyone very helpful. The manager checked in with me regularly as did all his staff. They couldn’t have been more helpful and I appreciated the level of dignity and respect they afforded me. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone. A very pleasant place to stay.

Robert, Respite Resident, Kirk Lane

My Mum has been a resident of Kirk Lane since March 2022. The staff are amazing and very supportive of both my Mum and me! Nothing is too much bother and visitors are always made to feel so welcome. I feel very relieved to have my Mum cared for in such a lovely environment.

Sandra, Daughter of Resident, Kirk Lane

I would like to say that since Mum came here in September last year, she has loved every minute. My sister and I feel so much better that Mum is getting such wonderful care, from wonderful people. Thank you all.

Caroline, Daughter of Resident, Kirk Lane

Wonderful home with an excellent level of care. The activity program here is wonderful with many varied levels for all resident’s capabilities. The rooms are well-equipped to meet the individual needs. The carers within the home are so nice and Mum adores them. They go over and above for the residents. Day trips are offered most weeks for those wanting a day out. There are often entertainment days with singers etc, which the residents love. BBQ’s are a thing Mum loves and this happens often. Overall, excellent place.

Julie, Daughter of Resident, Kirk Lane

My mum moved to Kirk Lane Home a few months ago and it has made such a massive difference to her quality of life. The home itself is absolutely lovely with a very homely feel and several small dining rooms and lounges for each floor rather than large canteen style dining. My mum’s bedroom is lovely with comfy bed and ensuite bathroom. From the moment you walk in everyone is so friendly and helpful and full of fun and nothing is a bother to them. I often visit with my young children and they are always made to feel welcome too and given snacks and drinks to make them feel at home. The activities and trips are brilliant, so much effort goes in to them and my mum has been kept busy and stimulated since she moved in. My mum has dementia and I feel guilty all the time that I’m not doing more for her, but it’s such a huge relief to know she’s now safe, happy, well cared for and with people around her to laugh and interact with. It has made such a huge difference to both our lives. Thank you Kirk Lane.

Caroline, Daughter of Resident, Kirk Lane

Holmesview cared for my mother in the last 6 months of her life. The staff were excellent and incredibly caring towards Mum at a very difficult time for all of us. The staff were always informative and supportive of our family members. Mum had a very comfortable room overlooking the lovely garden and felt very much at peace in this care home. Thank you to everyone who helped look after Mum.

Janette, Daughter of Resident, Holmesview

My mother has been a resident of Holmesview since October 2015. At the point, my Mum went into care, she was extremely ill, and I honestly feared the worse; the fact that I am writing this almost 7-years later is a testament to the care she has received during that time and continues to receive. The staff are exceptional (and I mean everyone) I often marvel at their caring, positive attitudes, always smiling and full of fun, and this gives Holmesview a really positive, happy vibe. Mum’s care/nursing needs are varied and complex, and they are sadly exacerbated as she gets older, but I continue to have great confidence in the support and care that she receives within Holmesview, as well as knowing that she is happy and still has the best quality of life despite her health issues. I have great peace of mind around Mum’s care, of course, I still worry about her, but this allows me to lead my life and still enjoy my time with Mum. Highly recommend Holmesview.

Allan, Son of Resident, Holmesview

Staff genuinely care about the residents. Rooms are very comfortable and cleaning excellent. Activities staff go the extra mile. Management are very involved with residents and act quickly if there are any requests.

Fiona, Daughter of Resident, Holmesview

What a lovely, friendly, compassionate care home this is. Our mum had to spend time in respite due to my father needing a spell in hospital. It was the first time they had spent time apart, so was a daunting time for them both. The staff at Holmes View are caring, compassionate, patient and respectful of their residents. We as a family could visit any time and were made very welcome (my siblings all work full-time) if there had been restricted visiting time this would’ve been quite difficult, we were all appreciative of this.

Once my father was out of hospital he managed to visit himself, the staff were kind and very interested in my mum and dad’s life story, which they both loved to talk about. Dad was treated almost like a resident would often have his dinner with them, much to Dad’s delight.

If anyone has a loved one that needs looking after, this is a first-class Care Home.

Lorraine, Daughter of Resident, Holmesview

My stepmum has been in the home since the start of April and we can not praise the home highly enough for the care that she is receiving.

All of the staff are so good and we can totally relax knowing she is in a safe and caring environment.

Mike, Stepson of Resident, Holmesview

The staff are always friendly and caring towards my dad. Even when he has tricky days, they show patience and understanding. He enjoys chatting to the staff, and any grumble he might have, the staff listen and try and help where possible.

Katie, Daughter of Resident, Fidra House

Excellent, very caring staff. Very clean and the food is very much to both my parent’s liking. The attention to detail is exemplified by the catering – likes and dislikes are catered for. Whenever I ask my parents about what they had for lunch or dinner, they always say it is delicious (and they each have different food). I am also impressed with the reaction to any difficulties – as different care solutions are required, they are proactively put in place.

Paul, Son of Resident, Fidra House

Mum quickly settled in and now participates in every activity going! She loves living there and is no longer isolated and lonely, all of which seems to have helped her general well-being.

We are happy knowing she is well fed, receives her medication as required and her personal hygiene is looked after.

We were impressed with the ensuite room allocated to Mum, the facilities and activities available and above all the caring and friendly approach of all the staff we met.

I’d recommend Fidra House if you are looking for a care home in the area.

Carol, Daughter of Resident, Fidra House

Visited my relative in Fidra today and was so relieved to see she is being so well cared for. She has a room with a beautiful view of the garden, and all her home comforts. The dining/TV room had French doors open out onto the garden which means all residents are able to enjoy the outdoors too.

Susan, Cousin of Resident, Fidra House

I really cannot commend Blenham House highly enough.

Margaret, Daughter of Resident, Blenham House

Blenham House Care Home has a truly warm, welcoming aura. Some long-serving staff, which augers well and they are never too busy to discuss care etc. My brother has complex mental and physical needs and staff and he are in a good place now. I am getting on a bit now and have been his carer/advocate forever and I can now truly say I do not worry about him or feel guilty that he is in a nursing home. Other residents seem contented and smiling and will engage with you sometimes if they can. The meals are excellent, menus are varied and familiar to residents which I think is important. ie. mince and tatties.

Anne, Sister of Resident, Blenham House

The care for my father-in-law has been exemplary, with the management team being particularly responsive. All members of staff are very kind and caring with them all remembering the names of residents and regular visitors. The care is professional and knowledgeable and the wishes of residents/relatives are listened to. Visitors are always welcomed.

David, Son-in-law of Resident, Blenham House

Each time I visit my mum I have found all the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful. My mum is receiving excellent care at Blenham House Care Home and her overall health has improved immensely since being admitted there.

I cannot fault Blenham House at all. All of my family members are extremely grateful for the excellent care our mum is receiving.

Maggie, Daughter of Resident, Blenham House

Our dad received amazing care at Blenham House. All the staff were kind and courteous towards him and every family member that visited. Dad had Alzheimer’s but was well aware of the level of care he was receiving, and was delighted to be there. He was cleanly shaven with his teeth brushed and in fresh clothes every day. This may seem like a standard level of care you would expect your elderly relative to receive anywhere, but I know from experience that it’s not to the same standard at every hospital or care home. All at Blenham House provide this at the base level of their excellent care, often going far above and beyond.

The meals provided at Blenham House are nutritious and appealing, with the chef happy to receive suggestions to ensure residents can enjoy their favourites.

The manager and all her staff can feel proud of their wonderful facility that provides such a beautiful experience for vulnerable residents at the end stage of their lives, and such care and compassion shown to the family.

Lesley, Daughter of Resident, Blenham House

Since Dad has been in Ashley Court, the care and support he receives has been excellent. He is not the most sociable of people but the staff always offer him the opportunity to join in activities, bus trips and so on. We have been able to take him out for birthday lunches, Christmas events, etc with no difficulty at all, and the staff make this easy for him.

Daughter of Resident, Ashley Court

The team at this care home have been together for over 20 years, which is reflected in the level of care at all levels. It appears to be a vocation for many, and my mum has been thrilled by the constant attention and interest in her. Previously, she sat at home and had little communication. The daily activities make this home seem like an all-inclusive hotel with a drinks trolley once a week and as much ice cream as you can eat. The bus trips each week also allow residents to get out and about. The decor is homely, which suits my mum, and the north-facing rooms have magnificent views.

Son of Resident, Ashley Court

My mother moved into Ashley Court in August 2022, and we have nothing but good things to say about the care and support she has received since she moved in. The staff are wonderful, very caring and cater to her needs really well. She has gradually become more involved in the activities and is encouraged to take part whenever possible. From the first time, we visited Ashley Court and met with one member of staff, we knew this would be the perfect place for Mum. The surroundings are comfortable and well-maintained, and the food is excellent with good choices. Thanks very much for making Mum feel so welcome.

Lianne, Daughter of Resident, Ashley Court

My mum has been at Ashley Court for a year now, suffering from Dementia, among other things. The welcome she got was lovely. Her room was freshly renovated and immaculate and her name was on her door, which helped give her a sense of ownership. The nursing care is excellent with the staff being extremely vigilant to my mum’s changing needs and about keeping me informed. The activities team are very encouraging when she is not in the mood to socialise and encourage her to join in the group activities and bus outings as much as possible, which she enjoys and benefits from immensely. I am always made to feel welcome and my opinion is sought regularly. I feel very much in partnership with the staff. There has been a great continuity of staff, which is important to my mum and myself.

Susan, Daughter of Resident, Ashley Court

My father has been a resident for six months now. He needs a high level of care and attention and we are very pleased with the care he receives. The staff are always happy to chat to let you know how he is fairing and very quick to inform you if there is a problem. He is relaxed and contented which is a great benefit to the family.

Joyce, Daughter of Resident, Ashley Court

My mother has been a resident at Ashley Court for a year. Since arriving she has had the most excellent care. She is physically challenged due to strokes and was bed bound for many months. The staff and management have been very pro-active in getting her physio and carrying out the programme given for her. She is now so improved she is able to sit in a special chair supported and go to other areas of the home. It is such a joy. Her personal needs are met with care and compassion too. Overall the nursing care and support she has received has been impeccable. My mother also has dementia to which the staff are sensitive and understanding too. There is always a choice for her whether it is to join in social events/activities or meals. The menus and food are of a high standard. All Staff and Management are all very friendly, approachable and very responsive to requests suggestions or queries. It’s a lovely care home, and a comfort to me and my family that she is very well cared for.

Daughter of Resident, Ashley Court

On our first visit to Ashley Court, we found it reassuring that time was taken to have a conversation that focused on Mum as a person, along with her care needs. It gave us confidence that we had found the home-from-home environment that we wanted. Her room was freshly decorated, and the type of chair that would ensure she would not be confined to bed was available. Mum has been a resident since August 2022. Although not able to participate in all activities, she has enjoyed being involved when possible. Especially being able to maintain the tradition of a birthday afternoon tea, by family being able to set this up in the garden room. Nursing care and support is excellent, and we are notified of any changes. There is great continuity of staff, everyone is very friendly and welcoming. It is comforting to know Mum is safe, content and well cared for. Delighted to have found such a lovely place where family can spend quality time together.

Caroline, Daughter of Resident, Ashley Court

My good lady has received a remarkable amount of care, compassion and warm assistance from all staff group. In addition, the activity staff are also tremendous, outings, concerts and games plus computer training. The management are in total control which means they are top class managers. From reception, management, nursing and carers plus activity staff, they are the very best!

Henry, Husband of Resident, Ashley Court

My experience of Ashley Court has been first class. Most importantly, the attitude, professionalism and care demonstrated by staff has been excellent and evident from the moment you enter the building to when you engage management.

We had an extensive and intensive search of various establishments prior to admission. We were very impressed with both the quality and fabric of the building and the positive, constructive and grounded approach to meeting my mother-in-law’s needs, both then and in the future. I’m delighted to report this perception has remained and is manifest.

Of particular note is the varied activities programme which staff strive to deliver. Despite residents changing needs, it’s nice to see and hear how residents are encouraged to socialise and get involved.

Willie, Son-in law of Resident, Ashley Court

The care mum receives is excellent and the staff are incredibly patient.

Judith, Daughter of Resident, Ashley Court

This has to be one of the best care homes. My mother has been at Ashley Court for 18 months, and the level of care has been outstanding. The staff are outstanding, the rooms are excellent, and the activities are perfect and involving.

Ron, Son of Resident, Ashley Court

The standard of nursing care (Mum) has received has been excellent. Mum’s clothing and bedding are always spotless as is her room. All the staff are kind and friendly to both my mum and I. There is a nice atmosphere in the home.

David, Son of Resident, Ashley Court

From the moment you walk into Ashley Court, you get a warm welcome from the receptionist and if you meet any staff you are always greeted with a smile. I find the staff caring, pleasant accessible and communication is very good.

David, Son of Resident, Ashley Court

The residents in Randolph Hill are treated with significant amounts of empathy and respect. I would have no hesitations recommending Randolph Hill to anyone looking for a suitable place for their family member to stay long term. Having approachable management and staff in any clinical setting is vital for a student nurse to progress personally and professionally.

Student Nurse, Randolph Hill Group

The staff are extremely caring and so friendly and I know Mum is in very safe hands and is very well looked after. Little touches make all the difference.

Gill, Daughter of Resident, Kirk Lane

Uncle is always well dressed in matching outfits and clothes are very well laundered.

Niece of Resident, Kirk Lane

The spacious luxurious accommodation with its beautiful and secure landscape gardens were just perfect.

Donald, Son of Resident, Kirk Lane

What a feeling to know that Mum stays in a place that is so well organised with a great atmosphere and many, many caring people.

Elaine, Daughter of Resident, Kirk Lane

Gran is  fully accommodated for, and everything from her personal needs to her health and wellbeing is looked after. The chef even makes food to order for the residents which is fabulous for people such as my gran who are quite specific about the food they eat and how things are cooked.

Granddaughter of Resident, Kirk Lane

Fantastic Homes to work for with excellent training throughout the years. I loved every minute of working in Dunblane and Holmesview.

Carer, Randolph Hill Group

I am very proud to work for Randolph Hill.  I have been employed by the company for over 5 years. The residents receive a high standard of care, delivered in a person centred manner. The staff and management have helped me to develop and progress in my career.

Nurse, Randolph Hill Group

I enjoy the experience of caring for my residents and feel satisfied when I am able to make a difference in a resident’s quality of life. Randolph Hill provides a very comfortable environment and resources to make that possible.

Nurse, Randolph Hill Group

It is important to me to be treated as a person and not just a number. This is achieved at Randolph Hill when the senior management team make an effort to get to know all of the staff employed in all the homes.

Nurse, Randolph Hill Group

We have found the staff to be very proactive and attentive in relation to Mum’s personal needs. The home has a lovely garden area for better weather and also provides various activities and entertainment for the residents.

Daughter of Resident, Randolph Hill, Dunblane

Activity staff bring a welcome dimension both for those spending most of their time in the home and for those who can enjoy day trips out.

Jenni, Daughter of Resident, Randolph Hill, Dunblane

Randolph Hill ensures that people are the focus of everything that they do. My Mum has enjoyed making new friends and learning some new interests.

Elaine, Daughter of Resident, Randolph Hill, Dunblane

Staff treated mum with care and patience way beyond what could be called routine. It would be wrong to name people – there were quite a few and probably others that we did not see! We appreciate the standard of care, they were a credit to you.

Son of Resident, Randolph Hill, Dunblane

Thank you for the amazing way you cared for my mum. You just couldn’t do enough for her, and it was so comforting to know that she was surrounded by such lovely people.

Christine, Daughter of Resident, Randolph Hill, Dunblane

From the outset the staff made my father feel very much at home. He enjoyed the evening music sessions, occasional trips out and other activities. Throughout the whole of his stay the staff were unfailingly patient, empathetic and responsive to his changing needs.

I think I can speak for all the family in saying that his last few years could not have been spent in a better place, and he could not have been better looked after.

I am more than happy to acknowledge the superlative levels of care which I and the rest of the family always observed at Randolph Hill, and which my father had the benefit of, at the time of his life when he most needed it.

Son of Resident, Randolph Hill, Dunblane

We wanted to tell you what a great job the nurses and carers did for Gran.

Gran had her nails painted for the first time (at the age of 95!), and was delighted to show them to us. All the girls were brilliant with Gran, and the nurses we met were wonderful.

Our countless questions were answered in a way that showed they knew Gran well and gave us the facts in a considerate way that showed they cared. They were always there when it mattered, and couldn’t have done more for us. For that we will always be grateful.

Granddaughter of Resident, Randolph Hill, Dunblane

The staff have an excellent rapport with the residents and take a real interest in their welfare.

Cousin of Resident, Muirfield

I couldn’t rate the care home highly enough.

Robert, Husband of Resident, Muirfield

Rooms are light and bright and kept spotlessly clean. The activities staff provide an excellent programme of activities which caters for all residents.

Anne, Daughter of Resident, Muirfield

Lovely welcoming home. Staff take good care of my mum and I know she is safe and very happy there.

Daughter of Resident, Muirfield

The accommodation is well planned and spacious and there is a wide range of activities and outings available.

Anne, Wife of Resident, Muirfield

Thank you for the excellent care given to my auntie. I got to visit her often at the home, and she had settled in so well. I was glad she was so near me, so I could return her past kindness to me – she was like a second mother to me.

Nephew of Resident, Muirfield

Thanks for all you did for mum in the months she was in Ashley Court. She found everyone very kind and helpful, as did I.

Lucy, Joanne and Andre, Children of Resident, Ashley Court

Thank you so much for the care given to my parents. I could not have wished for a better home for them in their final months. Everyone has a smile and a kind word, and nothing is too much trouble. With my heart-felt thanks and best wishes to you all.

Patricia, Daughter of Resident, Ashley Court

The food is excellent and my husband’s room is kept clean and tidy at all times and is very comfortable. Trips and entertainment are run regularly. I feel very reassured that I can leave him in excellent hands.

Wife of Resident, Ashley Court

A warm, caring and truly professional environment, the staff and facilities being second to none and provide the safety, security and stimulation.

Son of Resident, Ashley Court

Although we worried frequently that we would be in your way when we spent so much time with dad, or that you would become fed up with all our queries and questions, you always made us welcome and were friendly and helpful. We are especially grateful for the faultless care you all provided, thank you.

Elizabeth and Diana, Daughters of Resident

The personal attention offered by staff was exemplary and ensured that my mother adjusted quickly to her new environment at a particularly difficult time in her life. The stress and confusion, which had arrived with her from hospital, disappeared, and she was then able to enjoy her last few months in an atmosphere of familiarity and security.

Son of Resident, Ashley Court

I am so thankful for the wonderful support, particularly during the last couple of days of mum’s life when the staff were so attentive – not only to mum’s needs but ours as a family – always ensuring we were kept informed and included in her care. We were remembered at meal times and had a constant supply of hot drinks, which was so thoughtful.

It was wonderful, that whilst we had been worried mum might suffer, the staff ensured she was kept comfortable through this difficult time. It has certainly made me more aware of the extra effort made to ensure that what could be a harrowing time was easier to cope with.

Morag, Daughter of Resident, Muirfield

We would like to thank all the staff for their support during my mother’s stay, particularly near the end of her life when we felt so welcomed and free to spend as much time as we wished with her. The staff showed compassion and patience when mum was restless, and when it was difficult to care for her. We felt so glad that she was well looked after and loved by the staff.

Betty’s Family, Muirfield

Thank you for the care you gave my brother. Although we were only able to visit a couple of times, we saw the care he was given. My sister-in-law, sent us the newsletter so we were able to keep up with events and pictures.

Georgina, Sister of Resident, Muirfield

Thank you for looking after mum. I think she was too unwell to understand much of what was happening, but the family appreciate all that you did for her. Thank you.

Ian, Bill, Alistair and Gibsen, Sons of Resident, Muirfield

The home is maintained to an exceptionally clean and fresh environment.

Alastair, Husband of Resident, Holmesview

Dad participates in many activities which I feel he enjoys and this stimulates him. Before entering the care home he did not do very much at all.

Craig, Son of Resident, Holmesview

I have been a resident here for 10 months and I feel very much at home and one of the family. I am very well cared for and nothing is too much trouble. I especially enjoy the different activities provided, bus trips etc. Life is never dull or boring.

Margaret, Resident at Holmesview

My mum was one of the first residents to move into the home in Broxburn. While it was being built, we regularly took her down to see the building gradually taking shape and eventually became the modern, homely, well run establishment it is today.

Within a short period of time, my mum started to enjoy life again. I believe that Holmesview provided a holistic approach to her care.

As a family we will always be thankful to the staff at Holmesview for the fantastic care given to my mum, helping to eradicate previous memories relating to her care. I’m sure that at times my mum would have conveyed these same thoughts to the staff. Having worked within the care industry myself for 20 years, I believe that Holmesview have an excellent approach to care for the residents and their families.

Christine, Daughter of Resident, Holmesview

I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for the care and attention shown to my mum.

I witnessed a level of care which I believe went way beyond the role of each person involved. I saw people coming in just to say hello or if going off, would say goodbye. It was lovely witnessing day and night staff coming in to see my mum on unscheduled visits. I believe this to be way beyond and above the normal call of nurse duty. I would like you to know that the family are grateful for all you did and should take great pride knowing my mum received the 110% care she deserved as all mums should get.

Kenneth, Son of Resident, Holmesview

Before going to Fidra, she lived on her own from visiting Carers but was obviously depressed. Fidra care and staff have brought her back to life again.

Nephew of Resident, Fidra House

Meals are excellent and a good variety. I would not hesitate to recommend Fidra.

John, Son of Resident, Fidra House

All aspects of her (mum’s) care are excellent and we are reassured that her good care continues at all times, giving us a clear mind leaving her in capable, caring hands.

Son of Resident, Fidra House

The rooms are always clean and fresh. Also, the care that goes into each resident looking so well looked after – hair lovely, well-dressed and cared for. Every visit, I leave with a smile.

Granddaughter of Resident, Fidra House

I could not have wished for mum to spend her last weeks of life in safer, friendlier hands. She was just beginning to settle well and liked the staff immensely – she was just too ill to fully appreciate all you had to offer. The speed of her death took us a little by surprise.

Thank you once again for the care and kindness shown to her. I would have no hesitation in recommending Fidra House to anyone.

Sue, Daughter of Resident, Fidra House

How very grateful we are to you for looking after our dear mother, so caringly over the last three years of her life. It was a joy to see her so very happy and secure in your company. In her time with you she became free from the woes that had previously beset her during her failing years.

You do the most important of jobs, balancing professionalism with compassion. Your warm and respectful regard for those in your care does you great credit.

Mary, Daughter of Resident, Fidra House

Thank you for the sensitive way you looked after mum. Your kind care and friendship gave her the security to feel safe and comfortable in her last days. Also, thanks for looking after us when we visited from Cheshire, and in the difficult time after she died.

Stewart and Janice, Daughter and Son-in-Law of Resident, Fidra House

There is always a nice atmosphere in the home and we know Dad was very happy. You have given us some lovely memories, of happy times we shared with Dad – the garden party and the street party being two of them.

We would especially like to thank the lovely staff in Craig Suite, who looked after Dad at all times with good humour, kindness, respect and obvious affection. Dad was certainly very fond of them all too. We would like to mention every one of them because each one contributed their own special talent to his care, especially in his final days, and made sure that he died peacefully and comfortably.

We are also grateful for the support which we received during this difficult time.

All the family are so pleased with the care mum is receiving at Blenham House, all the staff are very friendly. Always something going on e.g. singing, bus trip etc. Blenham House itself is so light and airy with numerous lounges to use when visiting. Very well run.

Ann, Daughter of Resident, Blenham House

I wanted to thank you and your extended team for the wonderful care my Great Aunt Di received. Yesterday was the fifth anniversary of her taking up residence. I have been delighted with the care she has received over this time as there have been many dark days.

You very kindly supplied extra carers in recent months, which supported her physically and emotionally to allow her to recover and hit yet another milestone. She was frail five years ago and I am thrilled that with the support of the staff she has enjoyed this warm and nurturing environment for these, her later years.

Katrina, Great Niece of Resident, Blenham House

My sister and I would like to express our deep gratitude to you all for the love and care you showed to our cousin.

Over the many years she was in care, you were indeed her family and we thank you for all the kindness and attention. Thanks, too, to the many members of staff who attended her funeral and the most beautiful floral tribute.

People who visited commented as to how clean, bright and welcoming the home is. They also offered praise regarding staff, who they felt were far more professional when compared with their experiences elsewhere.

In my opinion the service provided by Ashley Court is second to none.

Thank you for the loving care and kindness that mum received. We would especially like to thank everyone who cared for mum in the final weeks of her life, and the way that we were always made to feel included and never in the way.

Elizabeth and Jane, Daughters of Resident, Randolph Hill, Dunblane

Just a short note to say thank you so much, to all of you, for looking after my father, and making his last months more comfortable.

Joanna, Daughter of Resident, Muirfield

I have been very impressed with the standard of care my father received. I know he was content, happy and genuinely well cared for. I realise that dementia is a difficult illness to deal with, but all the staff treated my father with respect and kindness and looked beyond the disease to the person, which is so important.

I was always given a warm welcome on arrival by your receptionist and found all the staff to be professional and friendly. The entertainment and outings have been varied and stimulating for my father and I know he particularly liked the personal gestures of letting him hold a kitten, and a visit to the Transport Museum; two of his favourite things.

My father never questioned why he was not in his own home. I feel that it was because of the warm atmosphere; a home from home. He really enjoyed the company and the wonderful food!

Most of all I have been impressed and grateful for the way my father was looked after during his last days, allowing him to die with dignity and in peace.

Rosemarie, Daughter of Resident, Holmesview

Many thanks for looking after mum. A special thank you to everyone up in Craig Suite for their very professional nursing care over the past two years. Such a loving, homely atmosphere and I was always made very welcome.

Luisa, Daughter of Resident, Fidra House

Thank you so much for all of the kindness and care you showed my mum. You were a blessing to her and me, and it was good to have her nearer.

Shiona, Daughter of Resident, Fidra House

I have to thank all at Blenham House for the love, care and attention given to mum. Fun and laughter were always the order of the day.
